China will further strengthen quality supervision of new energy vehicles to promote the industry's development with higher quality, according to the official Chinese media Xinhua News Agency.

China has introduced more than 60 supportive policies in recent years, and the country's new energy vehicle industry has made breakthroughs in basic materials, basic parts, motors, electric controls, batteries, and complete vehicles, the report said, citing Minister of Industry and Information Technology Xiao Yaqing.

China's new energy passenger car market saw a significant rise in sales in the second half of 2020, with annual sales exceeding 1 million units, according to auto industry data platform souche.com.

The development trend of new energy vehicles is positive, but the industry is still in a critical period, with fierce market competition and user experience to be improved.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) will further improve standards according to the market, especially user experience, and organize vehicle and power battery enterprises, industry institutions, and university institutes to carry out technical research, Xinhua reported.

The MIIT will also improve services including charging and parking, increase the level of electrification of public transportation, and continue to open up cooperation to improve the level of the supporting industry chain.
