Chinese electric car company Motors (NYSE: XPEV) delivered 6,015 units in January, up 470% year-on-year.

This is the first time that Xpeng has delivered more than 6,000 units per month, setting a new record for the third consecutive month and growing at more than 100% year-on-year for the seventh consecutive month.

Its flagship sedan, Xpeng P7, set another record high in single-month deliveries at 3,710 units, with deliveries increasing for three consecutive months.

Since achieving mass deliveries in July 2020, Xpeng P7 has delivered a total of 18,772 units.

The Xpeng G3 SUV delivered 2,305 units in a single month, a 118% year-on-year increase and the highest delivery volume in the last 18 months.

Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), said on January 23 that Xpeng surpassed in December production and expects its sales to perform well in January.

Cui reported that Xpeng's production in December reached 7092 units, surpassing Nio's 7007.

This also shows that Xpeng has a strong production capacity, and Xpeng will certainly achieve an explosive sales growth in January, Cui said, adding that Xpeng will also get a relatively high new energy credit score.

It's worth noting that Xpeng is recalling some Xpeng G3 vehicles manufactured from March 29, 2019, to September 27, 2020, a total of 13,399 vehicles, a regulatory filing showed last week.

The vehicles within the recall are at risk of short-circuiting between the positive and negative electrodes of high-voltage DC, which may lead to no high-voltage electricity supply to the inverter, according to an announcement issued by China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR).

Xpeng said the recall decision was made on the company's own initiative.

Xpeng found that some G3 vehicles have a problem with the inverter, which in extreme cases can result in blocked starting, or power being affected, the company said.
