It is a mystery who the supplier of the solid-state battery for 's first sedan ET7 is.

The supplier of the solid-state battery on Nio ET7 is not , China's largest automotive lithium-ion battery maker, but Beijing WeLion New Energy Technology Co., LTD, xuangubao.cn said, citing unnamed industry sources.

Beijing WeLion is a company that specializes in the development and production of hybrid electrolyte lithium-ion batteries and all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries.

It holds a series of core patents and is a platform for solid-state battery technology for practical use at the Clean Energy Laboratory of the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

On Monday, China Securities Journal cited sources as saying that CATL could be the supplier of Nio's solid-state batteries.

Then cls.cn quoted sources with knowledge of the matter as saying they confirmed that Nio's solid-state battery supplier is CATL.

CATL, for its part, did not confirm the report or deny it either.

At the Nio Day held on January 9, Nio unveiled its 150kWh solid-state battery, which can achieve 360Wh/kg ultra-high energy density. The new battery pack will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2022.

William Li Bin, founder and chairman of Nio, said in an interview on Jan. 10 that the supplier of Nio's solid-state batteries is not convenient to disclose.

Li said Nio has a very close working relationship with solid-state battery suppliers and is certainly the leading company in the industry. "We will make every effort to accelerate mass production, and we choose the best, most advanced technology that can be mass-produced."
