On December 21, debuted its automotive-grade high-performance LiDAR products and solutions. CICC, China's top investment bank, believes that Huawei's LiDAR has excellent performance and will be equipped on models available in 2021, opening the first year of mass production.

Huawei's 96-line medium and long-range LiDAR with 150m field of view ranging, 120°×25° field of view, and 25Hz high frequency is aimed to be a reliable product that meets the complex road conditions in China.

To meet the automotive-grade requirements under severe use conditions, the product has passed tests for high temperature, low temperature, water pressure, vibration, salt spray, human eye safety, EMC (electromagnetic compatibility), debris impact, and other scenarios, and has the ability to clean and intelligently heat and melt ice at high speeds of 130km/h.

Huawei said it has established the first Pilot production line for automotive-grade LiDAR, geared for million-level mass production demand, and is advancing according to an annual production capacity of 100,000 sets/line to accommodate future mass production demand.

Beijing Automotive's ARCFOX αS-HBT will be the first vehicle in the world to be equipped with Huawei's vehicle-grade LiDAR, scheduled for launch in 2021.

Considering the previously announced product plans of car companies including Great Wall Motors and for LiDAR, CICC said that the vehicle-grade LiDAR is expected to achieve mass production in 2021 and bring the improved self-driving performance of the equipped models.

According to CICC, assuming the penetration rate of L3/L4 level autonomous driving in new vehicles reaches 20%/3% in 2025 and 40%/15% in 2030, the market size in China is expected to reach USD 1.8/5 billion in 2025/2030 with the unit price of LiDAR expected to drop to USD 200/100 in 2025/30.
