As its blade battery production base, the main production plant of 's Ningxiang power battery production base project has been topped off, local media reported, adding the project is expected to start the installation of equipment before October 15, and the first production line's trial production will begin before December 15.

In April next year, the project's first phase of four "blade battery" production lines will be put into full production, the report said.

The base, with a total investment of about 10 billion yuan, will build a strategic base of power batteries for new energy vehicles in central China, mainly to provide power batteries for BYD's new energy vehicles.

The first phase of the project is planned to have an investment about 5 billion yuan, and is expected to generate annual sales revenue of about 10 billion yuan and create about 2,000 new jobs after completion.

The project will use BYD's sixth-generation power battery production line, which consists of robots, MES information system, intelligent logistics system and multi-functional unmanned handling vehicles to automate the production line.

On March 29 this year, BYD released the "blade battery", arousing widespread interest. The battery adopts lithium iron phosphate technology and will first be equipped with its "Han" model.

The "blade battery" can skip the "module" in a group, greatly improving the volume utilization rate, and eventually reach the design goal of loading more cells in the same space, BYD claimed.

Compared with the traditional battery pack, the "blade battery" volume utilization increased by more than 50%, and its mileage can be increased by more than 50%.
